Hello Friends! Welcome to Day 2 of the 10 Day Thanksgiving Journey!
As we head into the holidays, it is easy to get caught up in the preparations, leaving little time to focus on the One in whom we are to be grateful. The One we should have on the front of our minds each day. Perhaps you find yourself in that position today. Time is flying by, and yet you long to focus on the Savior. Your hearts desire is to posture your heart in an attitude of thanks as we head into this holiday season. If that’s the case, then I hope you will pause each day for a few moments and come along on this journey with myself and others. We will have a devotion on a daily topic; it will include a scripture, prayer, and a challenge for the day. And for an extra bonus, if you are on Facebook, be sure to head to my page to have some personal conversation with myself and others who are on the Journey. Let’s do this!
Day 2: Job/Provisions
Today, thank God for your job and/or His provisions. Even in the midst of our most difficult times financially, there is something in which to be thankful. Whether you have a job you love or one you are suffering through, take time today to thank Him for the pay you receive for doing your job. If you don’t have a job, take time today to thank Him for the way He provides for you even in the midst of the difficulties. Looking back, some of the times when my faith grew the most were when we were struggling to figure out where the grocery money was going to come from. We saw God provide in some unique ways, from random food deliveries to receiving an unexpected financial gift in the mail to even being blessed by the gift of vehicles. We were reminded that God sees our needs and that His timing is perfect. If you are blessed today with a job you love and provisions beyond what you need, thank God for that; don’t take it for granted. And if you are jobless and wondering where your money will come from for your next bill, thank God for that too. Thank Him and trust that He sees you and your needs.
Scripture:
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:1
Consider the ravens; they do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than the birds. Luke 12:24
Challenge:
As you thank God for is provisions, bless someone else by providing a meal, gift card, or paying a bill.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come to you in awe of the love you have for me. I thank you for that love. I thank you for my job. I thank you for the continuous provisions you provide. I thank you for other ways in which you show me you are loving me and caring for me. Show me today, how I may share a portion of your blessings with someone in need. Bring to mind a person or family who needs to be seen by you today, and show me how to move forward in the way you direct. Thank you Lord. Amen
