Hello Friends! Welcome to Day 1 of the 10 Day Thanksgiving Journey!
As we head into the holidays, it is easy to get caught up in the preparations, leaving little time to focus on the One in whom we are to be grateful. The One we should have on the front of our minds each day. Perhaps you find yourself in that position today. Time is flying by, and yet you long to focus on the Savior. Your hearts desire is to posture your heart in an attitude of thanks as we head into this holiday season. If that’s the case, then I hope you will pause each day for a few moments and come along on this journey with myself and others. We will have a devotion on a daily topic; it will include a scripture, prayer, and a challenge for the day. And for an extra bonus, if you are on Facebook, be sure to head to my page to have some personal conversation with myself and others who are on the Journey. Let’s do this!
Day 1: Neighbor
Today, for your Thanksgiving Journey, thank God for a neighbor. Maybe your neighbor is right next door, and maybe your neighbor is a mile down the road. God’s concept of a neighbor is anyone He has placed around you, anyone to whom you have the ability to share His love. Regardless of the loction and regardless of your relatinship with your “neighbor”, today is the day to lift them up in prayer. Thank God for who they are, for their family, for the part they play in your life, and most importantly, that they would catch a glimpse of Him today. And perhaps, that glimpse comes in the form of a neighbor…such as you.
Scripture:
The second most important command is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. Mark 12:31
And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. 1 John 4:21
Challenge:
Whichever “neighbor” God brings to your mind, thank God for that person and then go and “love” him/her today by stopping in to say hello, by sending out a card, by simply taking action in whatever manner God directs you today.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for my neighbors. I ask that today, you would bring a specific neighbor to mind and direct me as I move forward to show that person or family the love that you have to offer. Use me today to be a light to my neighbors. Amen
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Be sure to check back here tomorrow morning for Day 2 of the 10 Day Thanksgiving Journey. And I’d love to have you comment below if you have taken on the challenge. Let’s see what God does over these next 10 days through people like us. 🙂 Have a blessed day! ? Misty
